The Hampton University Chapter of The Accountability Initiative was founded in August 2024 by Cydney Wynn. The Chapter is dedicated to giving back to the Hampton community on and off campus through advocacy, mentorship, and service.

Sarah-Julia Katherine

President

She is the President of the Hampton University Chapter of The Accountability Initiative. She is majoring in Jornalism and Criminal Justice on the Pre-law track with aspirations of becoming a Civil Rights Attorney. She is passionate about civil rights and civic engagement and is committed to advocating for equity and justice within her community. Her experiences within her own education has led to a desire to improve the education system. She aims to leverage her education, experience, and skills in communication and digital content to seize opportunities in academics, digital media, and business. Beyond her academic interests, she is involved in social media marketing, content creation, and athletics, allowing her to combine her creativity, leadership, and communication skills. Through her work, she hopes to use her voice to advocate for marginalized communities, inspire civic participation, and create meaningful change.

Janiya Corcolis Vice President

Janiya Corcolis is the Vice President of the Hampton University Chapter of The Accountability Initiative. She is majoring in Journalism with a pre-law focus and plans to pursue a career as an entertainment lawyer. Through her studies, she is developing a strong foundation in communication, advocacy, and leadership while preparing to navigate the intersection of media and law. Janiya is involved in the Freddye T. Davy Honors College, the Greer Dawson Wilson Student Leadership Training Program, Black Women in Law, InspirHer Women’s Initiative, Southwest Pre-Alumni Council, and Pre-Law Hampton University Initiative. She hopes to empower women, develop as a leader, and use her future career in law to make a meaningful impact in the entertainment industry and beyond.

Avari Easter Secreatry

Avari Easter is the Secretary of the Hampton University Chapter of The Accountability Initiative. She is a Biology major on the pre-medical track with a passion for improving health outcomes and expanding access to care for underserved communities. Beyond her studies, Avari is actively involved in mentoring and community service initiatives that support individuals and families in need. She is particularly passionate about addressing disparities in medical treatment and education, promoting nutritional health, and ensuring equitable access to essential resources. Avari also advocates for families impacted by incarceration and supports women affected by domestic abuse through outreach, education, and connections to supportive resources. Through her academic and community involvement, she hopes to combine her future career in medicine with a commitment to advocacy, service, and creating healthier, more equitable communities.

Robert Mitchell Treasurer

Robert Mitchell is the Treasurer of the Hampton University Chapter of The Accountability Initiative. He is pursuing a dual major in Business Marketing and Psychology and plans to serve as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. As a student-athlete and campus leader, Robert is involved in several organizations, including the Student-Athlete Advisory Council, where he advocates for and represents the student-athlete community. He is passionate about educational equity, resource accessibility, and creating inclusive environments that empower underrepresented student groups. Through his leadership and involvement, Robert is committed to promoting organizational accountability, transparent leadership, and meaningful representation across campus communities.

Jayden Watson
Community Service Chair

Jayden Watson is the Community Service Chair of the Hampton University Chapter of The Accountability Initiative. He is majoring in Business Management with a concentration in Management Information Systems (MIS) and hopes to pursue a career as a Project Manager, combining business strategy, technology, and leadership to help organizations achieve their goals. Beyond academics, Jayden is involved in Beyond the Sea and Men’s Caucus, where he engages in mentorship, leadership, and community-building. He is passionate about education equity, youth empowerment, and expanding opportunities for underserved communities. Through his leadership and commitment to service, Jayden hopes to use his skills to create meaningful opportunities, strengthen communities, and empower others to reach their full potential.

Tyler Dixie Social Media Chair

Tyler Dixie is the Social Media Chair of the Hampton University Chapter of The Accountability Initiative. He is majoring in Sports Management and hopes to pursue a career as a Sports Business Consultant, combining his passion for athletics with his interests in business and leadership. Tyler is a Hampton University football player and is involved in the 100 Black Men of America Hampton Chapter, Student Film Club, and Philosophy Club. He is particularly passionate about addressing racism and discrimination in sports and other spaces, expanding access to higher education, and addressing sentencing disparities. Through his involvement in athletics, media, and community organizations, Tyler hopes to use his platform to advocate for equity, create meaningful connections, and inspire positive change.

Alanda Thorpe
Inner Social Chair

Alanda Thorpe is the Inner Social Chair of The Accountability Initiative. She is a third year Nursing Major and a minor in psychology originally from Philadelphia, PA. She hopes to become a travel pediatric oncology nurse in the future. She joined TAI to advocate for first generation students, especially those with parents who may be immigrants. She hopes to serve as a reminder that although life has its obstacles, you should keep going and remember that you are enough. She lives by the Bible verse Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me”

Living “The Standard of Excellence, An Education for Life”

The Hampton University Chapter of The Accountability Initiative has focused on empowering young boys & girls in the local community through spending time with them and participating in a variety of fun activities.
