NORTH CAROLINA A&T STATE UNIVERSITY CHAPTER

The North Carolina A&T State University Chapter of The Accountability Initiative was founded in January 2023 by Mackenzy Grant. AS TAI’S FIRST HBCU CHAPTER, THEY ARE focused on establishing mentorship connections with students in Guilford County, North Carolina and taking initiative in tackling the housing crisis in Greensboro.

Brooke white
president

Brooke White currently serves as the President of the North Carolina A&T State University chapter of The Accountability Initiative. She is a Journalism and Mass Communication major at North Carolina A&T State University with a minor in Marketing and hopes to pursue a career in brand strategy within the fashion or entertainment industry. Brooke is passionate about using communication, creativity, and advocacy to make a meaningful impact within her community. She serves as a board member for 2MyPlace.org, where she focuses on sex trafficking prevention, life skills development, and youth advocacy. Through her involvement with TAI and her community work, Brooke hopes to empower young people, raise awareness of important social issues, and create opportunities that encourage individuals to thrive. She is committed to using her voice and future career to promote positive change while amplifying the experiences and perspectives of others.

vice president

Samya Fernandes currently serves as the Vice President of the North Carolina A&T State University chapter of The Accountability Initiative. She is a Business Management major at North Carolina A&T State University and hopes to pursue a Master of Business Administration. Samya is involved with the Student Government Association College of Business and Economics Senate and has previously served as Treasurer for The Accountability Initiative. She is also a TMCF Scholar, ELC Scholar, and UNCF Scholar, reflecting her dedication to academic and professional excellence. Samya is particularly passionate about immigration issues in the United States and is interested in understanding the experiences and challenges faced by immigrant communities.

Daniyah Carter currently serves as the Secretary of the North Carolina A&T State University chapter of The Accountability Initiative. She is a Psychology major at North Carolina A&T State University and plans to pursue a career as a psychologist or registered nurse. Daniyah is involved with Charm City Aggies and the Study Abroad Organization, where she has opportunities to connect with others, expand her experiences, and engage with her campus community. She is passionate about social justice issues surrounding women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and the Black Lives Matter movement. Daniyah is committed to advocating for equality and supporting communities whose voices and experiences are often marginalized. Through her involvement with The Accountability Initiative and other organizations, she hopes to continue learning, serving her community, and contributing to efforts that promote equity, inclusion, and positive social change.

A’myrah cheadle
Treasurer

A’myrah Cheadle currently serves as the Treasurer of the North Carolina A&T State University chapter of The Accountability Initiative. She is a Nursing major at North Carolina A&T State University and plans to become an ICU nurse before pursuing a career as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. A’myrah is passionate about health disparities and health equity, particularly the unequal access to healthcare information and resources that can contribute to differences in health outcomes. She is committed to promoting greater health awareness and believes that providing individuals with accessible and reliable health information can help empower them to make informed decisions about their well being. A’myrah works at her campus health center, where she promotes health education and awareness among students by sharing information on important health topics and connecting students with healthcare resources. Through her involvement with The Accountability Initiative and her work in healthcare education, she hopes to continue advocating for health equity, increasing access to resources, and supporting healthier communities.

mulekesa dorckasa
social media chair

Mulekesa Dorckasa currently serves as the Social Media Chair of the North Carolina A&T State University chapter of The Accountability Initiative. She is a Psychology major at North Carolina A&T State University and hopes to pursue a career in Human Resources. Mulekesa is passionate about immigration issues and has a personal connection to the experiences and challenges faced by immigrant communities. Her family immigrated to the United States from Kinshasa, Congo, and growing up, she witnessed her mother’s journey toward becoming an American citizen and saw the dedication and sacrifices her family made to establish a life in the United States. These experiences have shaped her belief that everyone should have the opportunity to create a meaningful life and provide for themselves and their families without unnecessary barriers. Mulekesa is particularly interested in how policy, access to resources, and community support can create pathways for immigrant communities to thrive. Through her involvement with The Accountability Initiative, she hopes to use her voice to raise awareness, advocate for equity and opportunity, and promote dignity and support for immigrant communities.

JECHOLIAH MARIOTT
CO-COMMUNITY SERVICE CHAIR

Jecholiah Mariott currently serves as the Co Community Service Chair of the North Carolina A&T State University chapter of The Accountability Initiative. She is a Management major at North Carolina A&T State University with a concentration in Business Administration and hopes to pursue a career as a political campaign manager. Jecholiah is deeply involved in community service organizations throughout the North Carolina A&T community, as well as in Greensboro and Detroit. She founded 4the313, an organization based in Detroit that educates high school students and Detroit residents about the impacts of gentrification while connecting young mothers with employment and housing resources. Jecholiah is especially passionate about education reform, with a focus on Title I schools and improving literacy rates among young Black students. She is also interested in immigration reform and the ways policy can impact access to education, housing, employment, and other essential resources.

SAVANNAH WILLIAMS
CO-COMMUNITY SERVICE CHAIR

Savannah Williams is a co-community service chair for the NCAT chapter of The Accountability Initiative. She is a biomedical engineering major. In the future, she hopes to either conduct research or work as an engineer in the medical device industry. She joined TAI to help expand access to education in underserved communities and ensure that children have the chance to learn and express themselves through supporting STEM programs, volunteering, and much more. In her role as Director of Content & Media, Savannah oversees all social media operations throughout the entire organization, and supports the Social Media Chairs of each chapter in ensuring their pages are active.

A True Embodiment of “Always Doing, Never Done”

Since its formation, the North Carolina A&T State University Chapter of The Accountability Initiative has consistently served as an example of impactful student leadership, hosting dozens of events and service activities a year.
